Fresh 48 Prep Guide

WHAT TO EXPECT:
This is a lifestyle session focused on documenting the family, and baby’s time at the hospital shortly after their arrival on Earth. I aim to capture all the sweet new details of the baby in a relaxed and documentary session without props, or posing. I recommend casual wear for these images.

TIME:
I prefer to come to these sessions during “quiet” time. This is typically between 2-4 PM. Although, since this is an On-Call session, sometimes my schedule does not allow this, and I do try my best. Notify the nurses that I am coming and that the session is very important to you. Sessions typically take 45-60 minutes.

YOUR ROOM:
Your beautiful baby hasn’t learned how to regular his/her temperature yet. You’ll notice that the nursing staff often swaddles in many layers for this reason. Since I will be un-swaddling your little one at some point during the session, please warm the room up just a little bit. No cold air should be blowing during the session.

FEEDING:
The most important part of the session is feeding.
Being a new mom or even having another baby is overwhelming on its own. The nurses and lactation specialist will be in often to help you latch and feed your baby. We will need to give your little one a full feeding as close to us starting as possible. The helps your baby remain calm and happy throughout our session.

VISITORS:
Please keep all visitors to a minimum for our session. I will be pretty quick since this is a documentary session. Of course, immediate family, such as siblings, are strongly encouraged to be included in these sessions.

ADDITIONAL PREPATATIONS:
– Make sure baby room and/or bedroom is clean, organized, and ready for session.

– Prepare any wanted baby outfits and/or items.

– Lay out matching sibling outfits, or outfits that go well together.

– Notify me soon after baby is born so we can prepare and make arrangements for your session.

Father should ideally wear color neutral shirt that has no logo. (White, grey, or black)

Mom can be in whatever she feels best. (Prefer light neutral colors) Robes or yoga pants are absolutely perfect.

– Keep windows unblocked for optimal lighting. Colored curtains casting color through the room can be problematic. White or neutral colored window decor is always best, if possible.
